MARYLAND

H.B 507 passed in the recent session of the Maryland General Assembly. The bill requires the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to establish a program to distribute folic acid supplements to women between the ages of 15 and 45 years old who have family incomes at or below a specified level, and requiring the program to provide the appropriate recommended amount of folic acid along with counseling and information regarding proper use of the supplement.
